Who can take the basic pistol class?

The NRA basic pistol class is open to all levels of shooters.

The only requirements are:

  • Student must be at least 7 years old (under 18 needs to participate with parent or guardian)
  • Student must be a US Citizen
  • Student must be allowed to legally own a firearm
  • Student cannot have been convicted of any crime of violence

What will I learn in the basic pistol class?

  • Essential gun safety rules
  • Different types of pistols and which one is best for you
  • The basics of ammunition
  • The fundamentals of pistol shooting
  • Different shooting positions
  • The most common shooting errors
  • Proper gun cleaning and maintenance
  • How to maintain your skills

What if I don't own a pistol?

No problem.  We have pistols you can use for your qualification.  This gives you an opportunity to try different options before you invest in your own firearm.

Can I schedule a class for my family?

Absolutely.  It is important that all qualified family members know how to safely and effectively operate firearms.  Shooting sports can be a great activity that the whole family can enjoy.

I have a busy schedule and cannot find a class that works for me.

Please contact us.  We are happy to work with your schedule.  Classes can be completed in one day or in multiple sessions to work around your schedule.

What is blended learning?

The blended learning format incorporates eLearning over the internet that can be completed on your personal computer and at your pace.  This allows the student to learn many fundamentals prior to classroom and range time.  Please contact us to discuss your options.  We will help you find a program that meets your individual needs.
